Explore one of New Zealand’s most breathtaking coastlines on this guided ATV adventure through The Catlins. The journey begins in the small town of Owaka, where your guide welcomes you and provides safety gear and an overview of the day. Climb aboard a comfortable six-seater ATV and set out across green pastures framed by the rugged South Otago coast. As the trail winds through working farmland, you’ll pass grazing sheep and cattle while learning about local farming traditions and conservation efforts. The route leads to dramatic cliff tops overlooking Purakaunui Bay, where windswept trees shape the skyline and the Pacific Ocean stretches endlessly before you. This is the heart of The Catlins—remote, untamed, and incredibly photogenic. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to spot New Zealand fur seals basking on the rocks and seabirds soaring overhead. Itinerary
09:15 AM – Arrive at meeting point (3 Ovenden Street, Owaka) and check in
09:30 AM – Safety briefing and gear fitting (helmets provided)
09:45 AM – Depart on guided ATV ride through coastal farmland
10:15 AM – Stop at scenic viewpoints and photo spots
10:45 AM – Continue to Purakaunui Bay and wildlife viewing areas
11:15 AM – Return via alternate scenic route, passing rolling paddocks
11:45 AM – Conclude ride and return to starting point
12:00 PM – Tour ends; guests can explore Owaka township or nearby beaches

Instructions
Arrive 15 minutes before departure at 3 Ovenden Street, Owaka. Parking available across from the Four Square Supermarket. Helmets provided. Notify guide of medical conditions at check-in.
Restrictions
Not suitable for guests with severe mobility issues. Children under 6 must be seated with a parent. Tour operates weather permitting.
